ATTICA, Athens, (c.500 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (17.204 grams), obv. crude Archaic style head of Athena to right wearing Attic helmet with faint chevrons and dots, rev. owl standing to right, head facing with broad neck, to left olive spray, to right, **AQE*, all in incuse square, (S.1842 [£1000], cf.Sv. Pl.5, No.8/9 [very similar dies], cf.Asyut Hoard 268-310 [Group IV], Seltman Group Gii, 249 [obv. A164, rev. P202], SNG Cop. 19-20). Dumpy flan, weak in places, slightly off centred reverse, otherwise nearly very fine and very rare.
