ENGLAND, Elizabeth I, (1558-1603), Portcullis silver testern (or reale) mm. O, struck 1600/1, obverse legend ends REGIN (Pr.4; S.2607D). Deep grey toned patina, extremely fine and very rare in this condition, one of the finest known.

Ex H. Salvesen Collection (lot 9) (by purchase from Spink & Son London in 1977). Salvesen catalogue reported 37 known, of which 22 are in private hands.
