GERMANY, Saxony, Margrave of Meissen, Heinrich III the Illustrious, (1221-1288), silver bracteate, 44mm., obv. crowned ruler seated facing facing holding sword and cross all within double border, (See Sammlung Arthur Lobbecke Deutsche Brakteaten, Munster, 1974 No.534, Pl.18, cf.Peus Sale 317 [lots 664-5, 684-695]). Toned very fine and rare.

The crudeness of style is noted by modern scholars to be an issue of Heinrich rather than of Dietrich the Oppressed.
