SYRIA, Kingdom of, Seleucus I, (312-280 B.C.), silver drachm, (3.85 grams), Al Khanoum mint, after 285 B.C., obv. head of Zeus to right laureated, within dotted border, rev. Athena, brandishing a spear and holding shield standing in chariot drawn by four horned elephants, anchor above, in exergue **BASILEWS/ SELEUKOU*, (S.6836, SC 277.2, Newell ESM 662). Porous surface, otherwise good fine/nearly very fine and rare.
