CALABRIA, Tarentum, silver nomos or stater, (281-272 B.C.), (6.38 grams), Obv. Naked warrior on prancing horse to right, holding lance downwards, shield and two javelins, below API over **S*TI over **P*, to right in field **GU*, Rev. Corpulent figure of Taras to right, riding on dolphin's back with arm extended holding a bow and behind an arrow, below elephant and **DI*, and to left legend [**TARAS*], (S.-, Vl.710 [same dies]). Very fine and rare.
