JULIA MAMAEA, mother of Severus Alexander, (d.A.D.235), AE sestertius, Rome mint, issued 224, (15.94 grams), obv. IVLIA MAMA EA AVGVSTA, diademed bust draped to right of Julia Mamaea, rev. around VENVS FELIX, S C in exergue, Venus seated to left holding statuette and sceptre, (S.8223, RIC 701, C.69, BMC 197). Well centred, with attractive brown patination, good very fine/extremely fine and rare in this condition.

With ticket indicating purchase in May 1956 from Knoblock in New York.
