DOMITIAN, (A.D. 81-96), silver denarius, Rome mint, issued A.D. 95-96, (3.426 grams), obv. laureate head of Domitian to right, around IMP CAES DOMIT AVG GERM P M TR P XV, rev. around IMP XXII COS XVII CENS P P P, altar surmounted by two legionary eagles, (S.2739 [Å“1000 EF], BMC p.344 note, RIC 195, RSC 266). Toned, extremely fine and very rare.

The Reka Devnia hoard contained 81,044 silver denarii and 632 denarii of this ruler but no examples of this variety.
