GROUP OF FIVE: Distinguished Flying Cross (GVIR); 1939-45 Star; Pacific Star; British War Medal 1939-45; Australia Service Medal 1939-45. 260622 A.J.R.Oates on fourth and fifth. Impressed. Very fine.

D.F.C.: Since being posted to No 6 GR/B Squadron on the 24th September 1943, Flight Lieutenant Oates has completed 86 hours of operational flying and has participated in 13 sorties including 5 strikes. He has been employed on Pathfinder duties and has at all times shown exceptional courage and skill in seeking out and attacking targets. With original telegram summoning recipient to air cadet training, medical document, notification of pilot's license issue, list of aircraft flown by recipient as of 16Sept1969, copy of death certificate (issued in Republic of Zambia).
