CHARLES II, (1660-1685), hammered coinage, second issue, double crown, Tower mint, m.m. crown on obverse only, issued 1660-1662, laureate bust of king wearing plain armour to left, mark of value behind, reverse crowned oval garnished shield, C R each side (Schneider obv.3, rev.5, N.2756, S.3305). A superb portrait, extremely fine with considerable mint bloom, probably the finest known and very rare.
