GROUP OF FIVE: 1939-45 Star; Africa Star; Defence Medal 1939-45; British War Medal 1939-45; Australia Service Medal 1939-45. NX5547 W.K. Smith. All medals impressed. Very fine.
William Kennedy Smith. Enl. 3Nov1939 Bathurst N.S.W. K.I.A.26Jan1941 Derna, Libya. With photcopy of attestation form showing that he initially enlisted into the 2/4th Bn. AIF and later transferred to the 2/1st Australian Field Regt. Documents state 'Killed in Action' - Killed whilst serving his gun in action at Derna. Enemy shell landed in gun pit at about 1630 hours, killed instantly 26/1/1941.' Buried Knightsbridge War Cememtery. Also photocopies of service records.
