MACEDON, Roman Provincial issue, (c.90-75 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.218 grams), Thessalonica mint, obv. head of Alexander the Great to right, with horn of Ammon and flowing hair, MAKE**[DONWN]*, **Q* behind, rev. AESILLAS / Q above, club between money chest and quaestor's chair, all within olive wreath, (S.1463, BMC 81-83, cf.SNG Von Post 50-1). Porous flan, reasonably well centred, otherwise very fine and scarce.
Ex Dr. Colin Burnside Collection, and previously from Noble Numismatics Sale 66 (lot 3298).
