LATIN EAST, Tancred (1102-1120), Antiochian copper, Antioch mint, second type, obv. triangular bearded bust of Tancred facing with sword in his right hand, traces of legend, rev. Cross of the Tree of Life, IC-[XC]/NI-KA, (MPS 4a [p.199]; Metcalf 63-70 [p.27, Pl.4]; see Num. Circ 89 [1981, p.234-5] for discussion on issue, Sch. Pl.2, 7). Nearly very fine and rare.

In the excavations at Antioch 14 coins of this variety were found, another 2 at al-Mina and 2 at Corinth. The other types found at Antioch in this series of Tancred suggest that the only minted at Antioch.
