ITALY, Salerno (in Campania), Roger II, King, (1105-1154), issued 1130-1154, AE follaro fraction, obv. cross [I]C-XC/[NI] KA, rev. three lined legend, [ROGE/R]IVS/REX, (Bellizia 159, Cappelli 142, MEC 356-7, Vecchi Auction I, Feb. 1-2, 1996 [lot 1333 realised £40]; Roger II as Count of Sicily and Calabria and Duke of Apulia, (1127-1130), AE follaro, Messina mint, obv. Roger standing with cross on shaft to left R/II, rev. Christ seated on throne, (MEC 162-4, Spahr 53 [Pl.XIX], Biaggi 1217). First attractive apple green patina, second brown patina, both very fine and rare. (2)
