COMMONWEALTH, (1649-1660), pewter/tin farthing, (1654), obv. cross in spade-shaped shield, TK in wreath above, ¬ OVNCE OF FINE PEWTR, rev. Irish harp on spade-shaped shield all on sun and rays, around FOR NECESSARY CHANGE, (S.-, Peck 373). Moderate tin pest mostly about the edge, otherwise very fine and extremely rare.

This is a pattern which was placed in circulation but a Government document issued in 1654 prohibited its use, whereby placing the issue as c.1654.
