MACEDON, kingdom of Philip II, (359-336 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (14.28 grams), Amphipolis mint, period IV, issued c.315/4-295/4 B.C., obv. head of Zeus laureate to right, dotted border, rev. naked youth or small man (Philip II), on horseback to right, **L* over torch in field below, above **FILIP POU*, and **HG* monogram to right, dotted border, (cf.S.6680, Le Rider Pl.47, 17, [for type]). In high relief, round attractive golden tone, extremely fine and very rare.

Of much finer style than the example illustrated by Le Rider.
