ITALY, Lucania, Velia, (c.365-350/340 B.C.), silver nomos, stater or didrachm, (7.664 grams), Period V, workshop of Theta, obv. head of Athena to left, wearing crested Athenian helmet with griffin, **Q* behind, rev. lion walking to right, **UELHTWN* in exergue, **Q* below lion, line border, (cf.S.454, Williams 257 [these dies, Obv.150, rev.204], SNG ANS 1302 [same dies]). Toned, Slightly off centred, otherwise very fine, good metal and a scarce mint.
