NEW ZEALAND MEDAL 1863-1865. 636 Thos Fielder 70th Regt. Impressed. Very fine.

Ex Baldwin's (London) 1955, Dixon's (Yorkshire) 1996. Thomas Fielder served in New Zealand from 1863 to 1866. He took part in the engagements at Koheroa, Rangiriri and Orakau. He was also part of a small force sent to relieve colonial troops when the stockade's church at Pukekohe East was attacked on 14 September 1863. This is considered by historians to be 'New Zealand's Rorke's Drift'. Private Fielder left New Zealand with his regiment in January 1866. He was awarded a medal dated 1863-65 and his name appears on the New Zealand Medal roll WO100/18.
