DANIEL SOLANDER (1782) IN HARD WHITE METAL AS A CLICHE (37MM) BY GUSTAV LJUNBERGER (SWEDISH) (BHM.252; Eimer 798). Good extremely fine and rare, the only example in this metal seen by the cataloguer.

Ex Spink Australia Sale 23 (lot 952) and the L.R.Smith Collection. Solander (1736-82) a Swedish botanist and Joseph Banks (1743-1820) both accompanied Cook on his circumnavigation in 1768. This medal was struck at the Swedish Mint in 1783 and dedicated to Banks, who was Solander's benefactor and friend, by Klas and Johann Alstromer.
