BOEOTIA, Thebes, (379-371 B.C.), silver stater, (12.09 grams), obv. Boeotian shield, rev. amphora with letter **BO IW either side, (S.2395, SNG Del. 1316 [similar dies], BMC 48 [p.36]). Off centred on reverse, otherwise very fine and rare.

These federal issues were formerly attributed to the period following the great THeban defeat of Philip of Macedon in 338 B.C.
