THRACE, Island of, Thasos, (after 148 B.C.), barbarous silver tetradrachm, (16.6 grams), obv. weak struck head of young Dionysos wearing ivy wreath to right, rev. naked Herakles standing facing head to left, holding club and lion skin, around **HPAKLEOUS SWTHROS QASIWN, to left in field monogram MH, (cf.S.1759, cf.BMC 67-78, cf.SNG Cop. 1049). Saucer shaped flan with slight surface porosity on the reverse, otherwise good fine.
