GILES, Ernest., 'Australian Twice Traversed. The Romance of Exploration, being A Narrative Compiled from the Journals of Five Exploring Expeditions into and through Central South Australia and Western Australia, from 1872 to 1876', Sampson Low, Marston, Searle & Rivington, London, 1889. Two volumes, octavo, as issued uncut, grey-green cloth boards lettered and decorated in gilt and black, with portrait, 20 plates, 6 folding maps, Volume 1, pp.lx, 320, Volume 2, pp.xii, 364, (Wantrup 202a, F.9914). Fine and rare.

These two volumes are arguably the most hamsomely produced of late nineteenth-century Australian books, (p.263 Wantrup).
