MURZAFFAR SHAH III OF GUJARET PROVINCE, (A.H. 991-2, A.D. 1583-1584), silver rupee of Mogul standard, Ahmadabad mint, dated 991 (1583), obv. Kalima, rev. name and titles of Muzaffer Shah, (KM. SAC 98.1, Mitchiner 2946). Good very fine and rare.

Akbar's was a conquest state, the major provinces of which were independent kingdoms before incorporation in the Mogul Empire. On several occasions coinage was issued by displaced local kings during attempts to re-conquer their kingdoms from Akbar. This rare issue is one of these in the Gujaret Province by Murzaffar Shah III at Ahmadabad mint.
