REPUBLIC, M. Plaetorius M.f. Cestianus, (c.67 B.C.), silver denarius, Rome mint, obv. turreted bust of Cybele draped to right, forepart of lion behind shoulder, globe under chin, behind CESTIANVS, fillet border, rev. curule chair, star over crescent to left, around M PLAETORIVS AED CVR EX SC, fillet border, (S.-, Cr.409/2, Syd.808, Plaetoria 3). Off centre, on obverse, otherwise good very fine.

This issue refers to the celebration of the Ludi Megalesiaci, in honour of Cybele, which were under the control of the curule aediles.
