PALESTINE, Roman Procurator of Judaea, Pontius Pilate, under Tiberius, (A.D. 26-36), copper prutah, obv. three bound ears of barley, IOYLIA KAICAPOC around, rev. libation ladle [TIBEP]IOY KAICAPOC and date L[IS] (year 16 = A.D.29), (S.5622, H.113). Slightly off centre, otherwise very fine, scarce.

Of immense Biblical interest and much better than average. This coin similar in condition to the illustrated specimen in Sear (S.) above.
