JAMES HENRY KENNEDY, Hotel and Store Keeper, Camooweal Queensland, ten shillings, proof, currency note, not dated, (189- printed), numbered No. 200, unwatermarked paper, value as 10/- in lower left corner, no imprint, on front 'The Queensland National Bank Limited, Burketown, On demand please to pay the Bearer TEN SHILLINGS Sterling, Camooweal ... 189-', Australian Arms in oval with elaborate pattern in ovals on each side, in background in large letters in two lines across 'JAMES HENRY KENNEDY CAMOOWEAL', blue and black on white. Corner missing some edge gaps and small tears, otherwise very fine and very rare.

This is probably the only note known. This note by a hotelier was part of a similar series by the same printer and is typical of this group from remote areas issued towards the latter part of the last century. The issuers provided a service and the notes could be used as currency in the local area until cashed at the bank's branch at Burketown. They would then be presumably be redeemed by the issuer.
