BUKULLA VINEYARDS, McIntyre River, Inverell, one pound, currency note, dated 29th November 1869, (date written), number No.115, no watermark, value tablets in upper corners and arms in centre, imprint of 'De Cruchy & Leigh Sc. Sydney', stating on front 'Pay Boniss (hand written) or Bearer the sum of ONE POUND Stg' and to lower left 'Messrs Wyndham, Dalwood Vineyards, Branxton N.S.W.', signed by F.W. Wilkinson, note is cross cancelled, marked Paid Dec 9/69 and 1235, and stamped Commercial Banking Company of Sydney, INVERELL, all within rectangular ornamental border, with additional ink marks as numbers etc., on back, serrated left edge, blue on white (Vort-Ronald, type 1a, [p.23 & 25], Fig 32, illustrates a similar example). Minor folds, tone spot at bottom on front and back, otherwise very fine and scarce.

Bukkulla Vineyards notes were originally intended as Å“1 and Å“5 notes in 1869, with their values printed on the notes. A modification took place from 1870 when the notes were reprinted with no fixed value entered on the note but a value written in. The notes changed colour from blue to a dark blue and the printers name was also changed (see next lot).
