THE NATIONAL BANK OF AUSTRALASIA, Melbourne, Victoria, uniface one hundred pounds front and back, not dated, but c.1895, not numbered, specimen note, unsigned, perforated 'SPECIMEN' twice, overprinted in red 'SPECIMEN', on paper, no imprint, but printed by Bradbury Wilkinson & Co London, vignettes to left of woman as a personification of Victoria, and '100 POUNDS' in oval frame on right, ornamental tablet with '100' in upper corners, states below, 'On Demand I promise to pay to the Bearer ONE HUNDRED POUNDS Sterling at Melbourne, For The National Bank of Australasia', grey and red '100' across note, rainbow back with '100' in centre, bank name around with profile facing helmeted heads of Grecian women on either side, '100' in corners, perforated 'SPECIMEN' and overprinted in red 'SPECIMEN' below, rectangular block over the whole back, front note grey, red and black on white, back note grey and red on white, (Vort-Ronald, Type Three (b)(M), comments on bank and type p.175-185, similar specimen note illustrated Fig.187 [p.178]). Stuck down and mounted on a thick white card base edged in gold, extremely fine and extremely rare. (2)
