STACE, Thomas, Hobart Town, currency note, threepence (in Spanish Dollars at 5s each), 19 May 1826 (year 1826 printed), No.E136, hand signed by Thos. Stace, on printed form, black on white, printed on ornate printer's sample paper, (McNeice 36). Many miniscule perforations although not detracting from the note, with folds, otherwise fine, and rare.

Stace is noted as an issuer by McNiece (Tasmanian Promissory Notes) and Mira (Coinage and Currency in New South Wales 1788-1829). Thomas Stace was a school teacher, and many of his notes were printed on 'alphabet paper' or printer's sample paper as in this instance, (on the back of the note).
