SYRIA, Kingdom of, Demetrius I, (162-150 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.59 grams), Series I, Antioch mint, issued 162-156 B.C., obv. diademed head of Demetrius I to right, fillet border, rev. Tyche seated left on throne supported by winged monster, holding baton and cornucopiae, on right, BASILEOS and to left DHMHTRIOV, below in exergue E on side, (S.7014, Newell SMA 84, BMC 34). Some porosity on obverse hair, otherwise good very fine, scarce.

Ex. Glendining Oct. 11, 1993 (lot 41). Newell notes a total of 6 tetradrachms of all types in public and private collections of this ruler
