ITALY, Lucania, Velia, (c.440-420 B.C.), silver stater or didrachm, (7.78 grams), obv. head of Athena to left, helmeted with griffin on wreath, rev. lion pulling down stag to right, around [YEL]HTON, (cf.S.453, Williams 169 [These Dies]). Small flan, otherwise very fine, rare.
