AELIA FLACILLA, wife of Theodosius I, and mother of Arcadius and Honorius (died A.D. 386), gold solidus, issued Constantinople mint in A.D. 378-386, (4.46 grams), obv. draped bust to right with elaborate head-dress and necklace around AEL FLAC CILLA AVG, rev. Victory seated to right on throne writing chi-rho symbol on shield held on a small column, around SALVS REI PVBLICAEH, in exergue CONOB, (S.4189, RIC 48, Bastian SNR 63 No.356 [This Coin]). Choice extremely fine and extremely rare.

Ex. Tresor of Solidi published in SNR No. 63 1984 (pps 205-240) and previously sold at Swiss Bankcorp Sale No.2 Oct. 27, 1977 (lot 510).
