CLAUDIUS, (A.D. 41-54), gold aureus, Rome mint, issued A.D. 44-45, (7.86 grams), obv. laureate head of Claudius to right, around TI CLAVD CAESAR AVG P M TR P IIII, rev. around [PACI] AVGVSTI, Pax-Nemesis winged, advancing to right, holding winged caduceus pointing to snake, (S.-, RIC 27). Reverse off centre, otherwise a superb piece, extremely fine and very rare.
