CRUSADER COINAGE, Chios, gold ducat, in the Venetian style, in the name of Antonio Venier (1382-1400), obv. Doge kneeling before the figure of St. Mark, rev. Christ standing within stars, (NN&M 128 Ives [p.26 notes issues from this period are probably struck in Chios]). Crude style, very fine and scarce.
