MADRAS PRESIDENCY, British Style Coinage system, Gold half mohur or half ashrafi, issued 1819, struck at Madras mint, (5.82 grams), obv. EIC crest, a lion rapant, around ENGLISH EAST INDIA COMPANY, rev. in Persian 'Half ashrafi (hald Mohur) of the Honourable English Company', (Pr. 242, KM. 420). Extremely fine, rare.

Ex. B.A. Seaby Ltd, purchased by Captain Vivian Hewitt (1944), collection purchased by Spink & Son 1967, acquired 1973 by private purchase. $$ The issue was 212,690.
