MADRAS PRESIDENCY, Indian Style Coinage, Hindu System, Gold pagoda, c.1643-1677, Struck at Fort St. George (Madras) mint, (3.36 grams), obv. figure of a deity (probably Hanuman the monkey god of Vijayanagar), rev. plain, (Pr. 1, KM. -). Good very fine, very rare.

Ex. Downie's auction sale 122, Sept. 21, 1979 (lot 76). $$ Pridmore did not have an example of this the first issue from Madras in his collection. This piece clearly shows the squating facing monkey god.
