SHAH JAHAN I, (A.H. 1037-1068, A.D.1628-1658), round Gold mohur, (10.96 grams), struck at Burhanpur mint, issued A.H. 1047 (A.D. 1637-8), no Regnal Year, obv. Kalima, square dotted borders with ornamental quatrefoil corners, margins as usual, date 1047 within square, rev. Shah Jahan within square dotted borders with ornamental quatrefoil corners, mint on left hand side, (cf.BMC 555, cf.Nagpur 523, cf.Indian Museum Calcutta 844, KM. SAC 260.6). Possibily mounted on edge (file mark), otherwise extremely fine and very rare.

Ex. Spink & Son, London, June 23, 1978 by private treaty.
