SHAH JAHAN I, (A.H. 1037-1068, A.D.1628-1658), round Gold mohur, (10.91 grams), struck at Burhanpur mint, issued A.H. 1043 (A.D. 1633-4), Regnal Year 7, obv. Kalima, square borders with ornamental quatrefoil corners, margins as usual, date 1043 within square, rev. Shah Jahan within square with ornamental quatrefoil corners, mint below, (cf.BMC 540, cf.Indian Museum Calcutta 844, KM. SAC 260.6). Good very fine and rare.

Ex. Spink & Son, London, Sept. 13, 1978 by private treaty. A similar same date and mint specimen in the Dr. Lawrence Brent Collection, Spink - Taisai Sale 9 (lot 384) realised US$605.
