PALESTINE, Judaea, Mattathias Antigonus, (40-37 B.C.), copper prutah, obv. wreath with inscription, rev. double cornucopiae with caduceus, (S.6105, Hendin 36). Has been cleaned, with off centred flan on reverse of the coin, otherwise fine and scarce.

Ex. David Hendin and of Biblical interest as this issue is often described as the widow's mite. Coins of this Jewish ruler are usually poorly preserved and rarely have a legible legend.
