MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), gold stater, (8.60 grams), Miletus mint, issued 325-323 B.C., obv. head of Athena to right in crested Corinthian helmet, ornamented with serpent, rev. Nike standing to left, holding wreath in outstretched hand, HD monogram under wing, around spaced to left AL EXA NDPO[U], (cf.S.6706; Price 2085, M.-, BMC 2085, Thompson Miletus I.21). Minor scratch on and below chin, otherwise extremely fine with traces of mint bloom.

A lifetime issue of Alexander III with an unusual rendering of the rulers name by having the legend spaced around the coin on the left hand side.
