AGRIPPA, (d. 12 B.C.), Ae as, Rome mint, issued under Caligula A.D. 37-41, obv. head of Agrippa to l., wearing rostal crown, around M AGRIPPA L F COS III, rev. S C either side of Neptune standing to l., holding dolphin and trident, (RIC (Cal) 58, BMC (Tib) 161, S.556). Attractive, with slight smoothing on the reverse, nearly extremely fine/good very fine and rare in this condition.

ex Numismatic Fine Arts Sale XXXIII. May 3, 1994 (lot 421). A renown commander by both land and sea, he was destined by Augustus to succeed him, but he pre-deceased the emperor in 12 B.C.
