AUGUSTUS (27 B.C. - A.D. 14), denarius plated, obv. Augustus head to r., rev. IMP CAESAR divided by a naval and military trophy on prow. (RIC 33, C.119). Missing silver surface in places, fine.

ex Dave Raymond c.1944-1945 with his ticket. The existance of plated or fouree Roman coins is well established from the Republican period.
