OLYMPIC BRONZE MEDAL FOR 1944 MILITARY GAMES HELD IN BRAZIL, 50 mms, obv. IV Olimpiada Militar with olympic rings and torch, dated 1944, rev. wreath named to a Lieut. Haeckel for 3rd place in Volley Ball.
The 1944 Olympic Games were to be held in Switzerland, but because of WW II, they were cancelled, instead a much smaller military Olympic Games were held in Brazil in which only soldiers of the Allied forces took part. This unusual item with the associated use of Olympic devices makes it part of that area of collecting.
