BALBINUS, (A.D. 238), silver denarius, Rome mint, issued A.D. 238, (2.60 grams), obv. laureate bust of Balbinus to right, around IMP C D CAEL BALBINVS AVG, rev. around PROVIDENTIA DEORVM, Providence standing to left, holding wand and cornucopiae, (S.2398, RIC 7, C.23). Attractive strike slightly off centred, extremely fine and rare.

An emperor who reigned for ninety - eight days to July 238. He was co-emperor with Pupienus and both emperors were murdered by the Praetorians who invaded the palace.
