VESPASIAN, (A.D. 69-79), denarius, Illyricum mint, issued 69-70, obv. Vespasian head laureate to right, around IMP CAESAR VESPASIANVS AVG, rev. Genius of the Roman people standing to l., holding corn-ears and patera, around GENIVM P R, (RIC 307 [R2], C.200, S.-). Nearly very fine and very rare.

The issue relates to the Genius of the Emperor and the Roman people in the successful conclusion of the war against the jews. A curious piece with the portrait similar to that of Galba.
