SEPTIMIUS SEVERUS, (A.D. 193-211), gold aureus, Rome mint, issued A.D. 193-4, (7.10 grams), obv. laureate head of Septimius Severus to right, around IMP CAE L SEP SE V PERT AVG, rev. around VIRT AVG TR P COS, Virtus helmeted standing to left, holding Victory and reversed spear, (cf.S.1740, RIC 24, C.751). About as struck, good extremely fine and very rare.
