SOLD $90

TAIFAS ALMORAVIDES, Kings of Cordoba, Hamdin ibn Muhammad, (A.H. 539-540) (A.D. 1145-1146), silver qirat, Gharnatah (Granada) mint (Spain), not dated but c.A.H.539-540 = A.D. 1145-6, (A.406, Vives 1906, M.396-7). Extremely fine and rare.

The collapse of the Umayyad caliphate, the collapse of the Murabitids in 541 and the Almohades about a century later, spawned a number of factional kingdoms, most of whose coinage is rare including the above piece.
