AL-MUTAWAKKIL, (A.H. 232-247) (A.D. 847-861), silver dirhem, Madinat al Salam mint (Baghdad), A.H. 234, = A.D. 848-849, with additional field inscriptions on the reverse (to Allah) and the caliphs name (al-Mutawakkil), (A.230, cf.BMC 330 [year 235], Lavoix 960 [year 235]). Dark tone, slightly crinkled, otherwise nearly extremely fine and rare.
