FRANCE, Louis XIV, (1643-1715), silver ecu aux huit L (second type), 1704)(, Besancon mint, obv. laureate bust right, (Ciani 1924, Gadoury & Dr. 224). Overstruck on an earlier issue of 1701 ecu aux insignes, light grey with some blue tone, nearly very fine and a very rare date for this mint.

Ex. Spink Australia, Sale 21, (lot 1431). $$ Gadoury and Droulers report an issue of 5,770 for this year and from this mint.
