GORDIAN III, (A.D. 238-244), AE sestertius, Rome mint, issued A.D. 242-244, (20.34 grams), obv. laureate bust of Gordian III to right draped and cuirassed, around IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG, rev. around AETERNITATI AVG, Sol standing facing, head to left, raising right hand and holding globe, S C across field, (S.2482, RIC 297a, C.43). Uneven green toning with porosity on face, otherwise very fine.
