ITALY, Lucania, Metapontum, (c.320-290 B.C.), silver stater, (7.85 grams), obv. head of Demeter to right, wearing pendant, some hair visible under chin, rev. corn ear, META to left, Nike to left with wreath above stalk on right, and **LU to left under stalk, (cf.S.416, Johnston [NN&M 164] Class C, 9.1, SNG ANS 498, [same dies]). Good fine and rare.
